Recreation, Parks & Pathways Advisory Committee

The Recreation, Parks and Pathways Advisory Committee is organized as an advisory committee of the Township Committee.  The Township Committee shall receive and consider recommendations of this Advisory Committee regarding personnel, policy establishment and/or policy changes, as well as capital acquisitions and improvements.  The Director of Parks and Recreation serves as staff to the Committee and oversees personnel, maintenance and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • Review initiatives and provide comment on priorities, facility improvements and maintenance, fees, participation, activities and community recreation needs.
  • Volunteer and recruit others to volunteer with Township-sponsored recreation, park, pathways and open space programs.
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Parks & Recreation for park facilities, programs and services.
  • Promote the Township's recreation, parks, pathways and open space programs throughout the community.

Our Mission:

To enhance the lives of Bernards Township residents by offering diversified opportunities of leisure interests by providing parks, pathways, physical infrastructure, and programming necessary to pursue these needs.

Our Vision:

• Offer a wide range of programs and services that serve the interests and needs of Bernards Township residents.
• Ensure that the demographic of our residents is considered when developing our programs and services and all segments of the population are included in their formulation.
• Provide beautifully maintained fields, parks and facilities that offer opportunities for relaxation, health and fitness, while being a source of pride for all residents.
• Ensure the preservation and inclusion of open spaces and natural areas.
