Road Closure Information for Bernards Township

 Road Closure Information
Starting the week of July 2, road reconstruction will begin on Lurline Drive and Hessian Street. Roadway reconstruction will be completed using a process called Full Depth Reclamation. During this process, Lurline Drive and Hessian Street will be closed to thru traffic and the affected section of roadway will be closed daily to all vehicular traffic from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Absolutely no vehicular traffic will be allowed on the affected section of roadway during these hours, with the exception of emergency vehicles if necessary. All on-street parking is also prohibited in the affected section, and residents should make alternate parking arrangements on the sections of Lurline and Hessian that are not in the process of being reclaimed as described in the daily road construction project notifications. The reconstruction process along with the final paving is anticipated to last about 4 weeks until the end of July.
New Jersey American Water is preparing to replace approximately 8,000 feet of aging water main along South Maple Avenue (from Hill Top Road to Prospect Avenue). The project also includes replacing six fire hydrants and 33 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route. Weather permitting, the contractor, CRJ Contracting, will begin during the week of April 23rd, 2018. The project will be completed in approximately 3 months. Work hours will be at night from 8pm to 5am, Monday evening through Saturday morning. Detours will be in place during these work hours. Please follow all posted detours and signage. Work outside of these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. Once the water main is replaced, the road surface will be repaved and restored by Somerset County. If you have any questions, call New Jersey American Water at 1-800-272-1325, Monday through Friday, 7am to 7pm.
